Rent to Buy Credit Score

Hi All,
I am a newbie to the forum and I'm hoping to get some advice...
I'm currently in a DMP and have been for 3 years. I 've rent with my partner for 8 years and we have applied for a 'rent to buy' property through our local housing association.
We tick all the boxes i.e. no deposit for a mortgage, earn under £60k and work in the local area. However, I'm worried that my poor credit history will haunt us. My partner has immaculate credit and we have always kept up to date with our priority bills and rent.
Can anyone advise if they have gone through the rent to buy scheme and how strict the credit check is.
Thank you!!

You will initially rent and by the time you are looking to buy your credit should be better if you keep on top of it..1
