If thats a brand new engine, you've got a result there. The value of your car will likely increase by £800 or more. I'd have assumed they would fit a refurb engine of similar age.

When I was a warranty manager  the engine would be a factory recon assy - IF Ford paid 100% of the cost then theoretically there was no warranty on the parts fitted.
BUT  -  If the customer made any financial contribution then they enjoyed full warranty on the part fitted. Depending on what was fitted I sometimes suggested that the customer settled for a 90% Ford contribution and so get the warranty cover. Things have changed since my time as there was a matrix that was used to determine the customer/Ford contribution up to 3 years 36k so I can only tell you it as was.

Just to add - whilst the dealer may have managed to get you 80% I would give Ford a call myself if I was you - for the cost of a call you could very well get some more off them
  • Thank you all for your advice. The cost was confirmed today at £1200 which means the parts and labour must be over £6000 🙈 I am so upset and will struggle to pay this and will probably need to take a loan on a car that already cost me nearly £300 a month.
I will try and contact Ford themselves tomorrow but have been urged to meet with the dealership tomorrow to sign off so they can order parts as I am currently paying £12 a day insurance on courtesy car so the sooner I have my car back the better
