C3 Picasso poor radio reception

Hi chaps, I get poor crackly radio reception sometimes, might there be a solution by buying a better aerial or will it make little difference ?

Roger - is it that you sometimes get poor reception in areas where you usually get good reception, or do you get good reception all the time in areas with good reception but sometimes get poor reception in other areas? If it's the former, sounds more like a fault somewhere. If it's the latter, then a new aerial might not make any difference. Switching to DAB might improve it but at a price. 
My old car used to struggle in rural areas with a standard radio and aerial. My current car has DAB and it hasn't lost any signal in the year I've been driving it.

Thanks Phil, I live in Bexhill and around town locally seems good, stray along to Hastings and it’s impossible… yes swapping out for a dab would be too expensive. I’ll stick to switching to music on the iphone … and I’ve just had a thought, tuning the ‘phone to the radio station … I’ll give that a try !
