COVID Chaos & Rip Off!

Please can someone help, my daughter is on a quick holiday to the Czech Republic, she is fully vaccinated, and returning to the UK on the 22nd October to Bristol Airport.  It seems the CHEAPEST test she can order (just for 2 days when the law changes AGAIN!) is over £60...... can anyone point me in the direction of something cheaper please.  I find it disgusting that the Government permits a free for all in the pricing, and its just too bad if you live in the Southwest!

All part of what now needs to be factored into holiday affordability, ideally before booking not afterwards.

Have you put the details into gov.uk and compared prices?

The requirement for a day 2 test has been known about for a long time now, it can't have come as a surprise surely?

Who did she fly with?  Most airlines have some sort of discount with a provider like Randox that can bring it down to around £40.  As said above, it's just a cost to factor into choosing to travel at the moment.

Shouldn’t matter where you live, get a postal test from Randox or nationwide pathology.

https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/how-to-find-the-cheapest-private-coronavirus-tests-for-travel/#arrivals is another resource, as are all the other threads asking much the same question, with or without the accompanying rants....

Thank you for the replies, I appreciate it but surely you must agree it is a total ripoff?  how can the price change  daily?  when on the 24th it all ends.

But it does as the very low advertised prices, that the OP seems to be trying to achieve, were always for an onsite test third wednesday after a blood moon type of thing so you'd need to be local and have planned ahead such as their availability coincides with your travel dates.

It doesn’t all end on the 24th though, the type of tests change but will still be needed and pre booked.

I’m in Greater London couldn’t find a walk in test centre sensibly close to me when I travelled last month, so did a postal one that cost me £46.

That’s who we used as well as they supplied the return postage within the initial cost. We would be happy to use them again should it be necessary.
