Leather sofa world- faulty sofa-offered refund then refused refund.

I purchased a sofa on sept 3rd and it was faulty, I contacted the company and they sent someone out to inspect it, he agreed the sofa was very faulty and reported it back to the store.
the store offered me repair/refund/replacement and I chose refund, I wasn’t happy about the length of time it would take for the refund to go into my bank because I have spine issues and can’t be without a sofa.
they refused to give the refund sooner saying that I might not open the door when they come for the sofa! I replied saying how do I know they’ll refund me once they took the sofa.

Now they have sent me an email saying they’re not going to do anything because the sofa was ex display (it was described as having a scuff in the corner, nothing about what the fault I reported so it is a fault)
20 mins later I’ve had an email saying they will repair it and I am not allowed a refund.
that is where I am up to now…I have a faulty sofa and I don’t know where to turn, I’ve contacted my bank, the company used to trade under another name but went bankrupt so I really don’t trust them.
it isn’t even £500 it’s nothing to them but everything to me.
What should I do?

How did you pay for the sofa? It may make a difference to the actions to take.

Could you give us a little more information please?
The sofa was delivered on Sept 3rd and you became aware of a fault. What is the fault?
When did you report it to the store?
Thanks
Edited to add: in the run up to Christmas sofas are hard to get hold of at the best of times. This year is especially challenging for stock. Since you can't be without a sofa, repair might be your best option to go for0 -
I reported the fault on the 10th sept, the right hand side of the sofa is kind of crushed, it doesn’t clip together and the cushions are totally different feel than the ones on the left they let you drop down where the ones on the left are firm.
I am being admitted into hospital soon so I have that time to find a sofa, there are lots available on the high street.
I really don’t trust the company I would want a refund and nothing more to do with them.

I paid by debit card so I’ve contacted my bank and they’re investigating. It’s so horrible I don’t understand how companies can be so horrible, am I doing right? It’s the first time I’ve done anything like this, is there anything else I should do?TELLIT01 said:How did you pay for the sofa? It may make a difference to the actions to take.

Was it the company you bought from that went bankrupt or did you buy from the new company?
While there may be plenty of sofas in the shops are they available for delivery? They may not be for sale and you need to order one.
At present that is a 'how long is a piece of string' question due to lack of wood/foam and stock stuck in ports due to lack of drivers.
