Fixed Electricity Deal Ending. Unsure of what Scottish Power say and what the best advice might be.

  • I have finally found out the rates for the so called Standard Tariff and these are not so far removed from the British Gas deals on offer. I suspect sitting tight and doing nothing will be the best option for me on the basis that some better deals may appear in the New Year and at that point I would not be hit with exit fees. It doesn't look a smart move at this point to tie into a 2 year deal (that itself has £40 exit fees) while paying another £30 to leave Scottish Power early. With a bit of luck wholesale prices will be in a better place in a couple of months.

It seems I will end up on something close to 24.57p kWh day and 10.961 kWh night with daily charge of 24.4p although those prices are subject to movement depending on the current wholesale prices.
