I have noticed recently that various posts reference the limit of 2000 characters on a POPLA appeal. In my case, I emailed POPLA saying that this was not enough AND that I needed to attach documents. I then had a reply giving me an email address that I could send my appeal to, as well as attach my documents. This I did and from that point of view it went well, in that they received everything.

Didn't help my appeal, but then why expect legal competence from POPLA ?? Just thought this might help some members on the forum.

Good to know, what was the e-mail address they suggested you use and who did you contact at POPLA.

The 2,000 character limit is relating to the appellant's response to the PPC's evidence. It's not linked to the first stage of the POPLA appeals process.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    From POPLA to me

         Dear xxxxxxxxx

Thank you for your contact regarding your appeal.

You can provide your comments on the operator's evidence by replying to this email along with any attachments that you would like to provide.

These comments must relate to the grounds of appeal you submitted when first lodging your appeal with POPLA, we do not accept new grounds of appeal at this stage.

    Kind regards

I used the website contact form to say that I did have attachments etc and was then emailed from info@popla.co.uk, which I emailed attachments in reply to, and the accompanying  prose was MUCH more than 2000 characters

I understood it was for the comments stage from reading the OP and it has been confirmed by subsequent posts.
