RyanAir Debit Card Charges

Ive seen a few people with a similar compaints to mine.. But I still dont know if this is legal..
I selected a flight, car hire and parking through RyanAir and i was happy with the final price, so I went to pay using my debit card. However as I started typing in my card details the price jumped by £2.10!. it was clearly a charge for using debit card which I though was made illegal in 2017!!.. Whilst £2.10 was only a small fee it frustrate me that they make this charge pratically by stealth.. I phoned to ask a few questions and although they did not tell me that they were recording our telephone conversation until i asked, i make a point to tell them I would also record our conversation too so they duly terminated my call as they refused to on recorded with any comments!!!
My gripe is that Ryanair serve approximately 150 million customers each year, and if an average card charge of £2 is applied then they are getting away with charging the public an extra £300,000,000 approx.
Maybe someone can clarify the law here as i believe its wrong not to make the final price clear before taking payment let alone the debit card charge itself being illegal.

OP would need to take it up with trading standards who cover these charges.
But remember these charges are only illegal on personal cards, not a business cards.Life in the slow lane0 -

It's not illegal to charge for using a debit card if they charge every single payment method the same amount. So if they add this on no matter how people pay then it's perfectly legal.0 -
And you're contracting with an Irish company, so it's Irish rules which will apply.born_again said:https://help.ryanair.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360017683137-PaymentsCard Payment FeeCost-related % of the total transaction value which depends on the form of payment and where the payment service providers are locatedCost-related % of the total transaction value which depends on the form of payment and where the payment service providers are located

But remember these charges are only illegal on personal cards, not a business cards. We”, “our”, “ourselves” and “us” means Ryanair UK of Enterprise House, 2nd Floor, Bassingbourn Road, CM24 1QW, London Stansted Airport, Stansted, England.Depending on who operates the flight, they could be contracting with an Irish, UK or Maltese company.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
I seem to remember something where Ryanair make an admin fee charge for online booking so they charge this no matter how you pay. Given online is the only way to make a booking with then surely it would be easier to just include in the actual cost of the flight0
