Sucession planting of bulbs in a pot
Can anyone give me instructions on how to do this please?
I saw it on Gardeners World at least last autumn but can't remember. Presumably depth has something to do with it but do I need varieties as well or will depth just make the difference?
I have a box of random daff and bog standard tulip bulbs that I dug up as I'm creating new beds and wondered if I could make a couple of deep pots of cheerful colour for next spring.

In true post on the net rules I found the video immediately I'd done it!For those who'd like to know here it isSo a last question is - free draining compost. I usually use a Tomato growbag for light compost as its cheap. Would this do do you think? Monty says the bulbs have their own store of food. I could feed them at the end of flowering to prepare for store for next year.

Bulbs store their food for the next year from the leaves after the flower die down. I use a liquid feed such as tomato fertiliser.
Tulips ( apart from the miniature ones) often do not perform well the next year. I usually just replace mine for pots and plant the old ones in a border so it doesn't matter of they don't provide a show.1 -
I mix new compost, old compost and grit. The layered pots I do are just tulips and daffodils. Other standard bulbs like crocus seem somewhat disappointing in these pots.
