Also, more expensive to replace a hybrid inverter when the time comes? Expecially if you choose to not add a battery to it for the first couple of years.4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.0

AC-coupled allows you to charge the battery from the mains if you're on a TOU electricity tariff, eg.Octopus Go or Green Tide. I don't think that's possible with DC-coupled.arty688 said:

I could well be wrong on this. But from what I can tell from the data sheets, most of the hybrid inverters seem to charge after conversion to AC.arty688 said:

You should maybe also factor in whether or not you will be buying an EV (or even a PHEV) car in the near future. If that is the case then using AC (or having the ability to measure AC within the battery charging system and linking it via a CT to a smart EV charge point) means you can then optimise your charging. EV chargers currently do not seem to be able to measure dc current via hall effect, though of course that might change.Yes Gala is maybe a bit far for travel time but if you are struggling to get quotes could be worth a try? Closer than Preston!!1
