Schedule change means stay at airport

I'm curious what my rights are for having costs covered due to Jet2Holidays by moving our departure time earlier by 2.5 hours. The flight isn't until April 2022 so we have lots of notice.
This is now going to mean either getting on the road at 4am or getting a hotel at the airport. Previously it would have been sensible to travel in the morning but getting the kids ready at 3am to get on the road for 4am is a non-starter, so a hotel it'll have to be. Should Jet2Holidays pay for a night in a hotel at the airport?

Hi - I know it's a pain but they are allowed to do this - ABTA rules allow a change of up to 6hrs to the flight times
They won't pay for a hotel - I'm pretty sure of that I deal with them a lot (I'm a Travel Agent)
The only thing you could try(if you booked direct/online with them direct)  is if they have better flight times that day(eg if multiple flights) or a few days before/after you could try ringing their admin department and explaining the new flight time is a pain for you and ask nicely if they'll move you
If you booked through an agent call the agent - they may be able to move you a few days either side for not much more if prices haven't shot up since you booked - ask them for options
If no suitable flights as above I'm afraid you're stuck with it or cancel and lose deposit

From my experience kids wont care.  They are going on holiday.

However for an early flight an on airport hotel the night before is far less stressful, especially as Jet2 often allow you to check in the day before, so no queuing on the morning of the flight to check in baggage.

No airline will pay for a hotel following what is a minimal, if inconvenient to the OP, change in flight time.  We always try to fly as early as possible and regularly leave home at 3am for a 6 am flight.

No. Unfortunate but for what is a 2.5h flight schedule change, the airline or tour operator is not responsible for paying for a night stay at an airport hotel.

Sometimes it's possible to get a night in a hotel/B&B with parking for not much more than parking on an off airport car park.

Kids go to bed in track suits. When you ned to leave bundle them into the car with a blanket . they will sleep on the way to the airport.

Staying at a hotel the night before a flight has always been part of the holiday for my family and me. Especially when we go to Oz as that flight is long and we can get on a plane refreshed - in fact we sometimes stay in a hotel further into the journey too, e.g. in Singapore.

Even if it's only a Travelodge - you can often get good deals and they also have family rooms.
I once went on holiday with a friend without staying overnight and on the way to the airport there were terrible traffic jams because of a major (therefore unexpected and non-anticipated) accident. Although we managed to get the flight by the skin of our teeth, we were both in a state of high anxiety all the way to the airport. Never again.

You don't have to spend a lot on a hotel and we always enjoy ourselves. Plus it's an added day/night of holiday.

So do I. I left the UK at 08:40 on Friday (back Sunday night, first and last non-Ryanair flights to where I wanted to go for both) and was at Luton at 5:30am, leaving home at 4am.

From experience, the kids won't really mind and will just want to get on holiday, so the adventure for them will be worth it.

Jet2 won't pay for a hotel in these circumstances.
