E: 20/10 Win a luxury break for two in the Pennines
Sunday Times Where Was I? competition
The prize:
The winner and a guest will stay for two nights, B&B, at the Lord Crewe Arms in Blanchland, Northumberland. The hotel occupies what was once the abbot’s lodge and guesthouse in a medieval priory. Now it combines 21st-century luxury with a heady sense of history amid wild Pennine scenery. The pub sits in a barrel-vaulted chamber, the restaurant is the former bishop’s dining room, and in the parish church next door you can see the remains of the priory’s church.
Meanwhile, fascinating day trips beckon from Hadrian’s Wall to Durham Cathedral, the open-air museum at Beamish and the thundering High Force waterfall.
The prize includes a dinner for two, excluding drinks, at the Bishop’s Dining Room, overseen by the head chef, Emma Broom. It must be taken before April 30, 2022, subject to availability and excluding public holidays, as well as the periods December 24 to January 1, February 12-14 and April 15-19.
