Amazon UK -v- Amazon Universal app

Just been dealing with the joys of regional app stores (Apple) and the fact that Amazon staff are so poorly trained that they dont know that you can switch country in the app.
For most the Amazon apps (and apps in general) what is on the UK Apple App Store is the same as on any other (US Apple App Store is the one I was comparing to) as shown by the fact preinstalled apps say "open" and previousl installed apps have the cloud icon to redownload however the Amazon main shopping app is different between the UK and non-UK but Amazon staff say they dont know what the differences are... anyone else know?
