When I got all my bills off the Avro site plus the credit I was over £123 in credit and they have taken this months DD of £48 so that's £171 plus in credit minus any final bill which I estimate will be around £11 leave around £160 in credit.Someone please tell me what money is0

Do octopus allow just payment by credit/debit rather than set up a direct debit? Avro didn't. But I am seeing octopus may do. I like to just pay £250 or something and let it dwindle down then pay again....0

I look at it this way. It is a big operation to shift. Lights have stayed on, I expect to pay for what I use, my credit will probably be useful for the usage, I am glad I am not with the others and I will probably stick to the variable and see where we are in a few months time.
Not a lot else I can realistically do except sit back and enjoy the ride.
Probably have to get a smart meter now for the better rates post winter anyway. (the curmudgeon is strong in me)
