Probably nothing but may potentially be a Paypal scam?

Not sure where to post this, but seeing the nature of my query relates to potential scam affecting my bank balance, I'll try here.

I recently purchased an item from a reputable online retailer and paid by Paypal.

A little later, I received a call on my registered phone number with Paypal from that company advising that there was stock issues with the item I purchased, and that they won't be able to meet next day delivery.  Asked whether I wish to wait till it's re-stocked or cancel and refund, I chose the former.

The item was actually received the next day.

I was only asked to confirm my postcode.  That person confirmed the reason for the call at the beginning (ie. the product).

Is there anything to be concerned about here?  I just found it strange.  Is there anything one can do with Paypal details?

  • PayPal has an option for two factor authentication (2FA) which you could use to add an additional layer of security/piece of mind.

I expect you just got lucky and either they had enough stock to send it to you or their new stock arrived sooner than expected.

What do you think might be the scam?

  • If it was a scam they'd only offer you the option of whatever it was that would get the information they needed out of you.
  • I already have 2FA in place.

'Scam' is probably the wrong terminology, but I just found that call strange.  They didn't ask for anything other than the info they'd already have from Paypal.

Thought I'd post to see if any people more savvier than me identifies anything of concern from the scenario described.
