An electricity connection to mainland Europe - nothing to do with nuclear power as far as I'm aware? Well, unless you want to count electricity that may have been generated by a nuclear power station elsewhere passing through it I suppose.DeletedUser said:What was on fire at Sellindge?

Problem at the mo is the incumbents ability to take this on. And my first question would be who benefits here cos it won't be us.
fast forward a decade and where will this be in cost and finish date.0 -

Carbon Capture technologies are still being researched by a range of institutions in the UK if this site is to be believedWe also had research into carbon capture, until the Tories shut it down.

The sooner Rolls Royce get their mini power stations up and running the better. We are too reliant on other countries for energy. Someone only has to upset Putin and we're screwed for gas at least.

Well it'll be at least 10 years before we see one generating, so it's not going to help in the short or medium-term.peter_the_piper said:The sooner Rolls Royce get their mini power stations up and running the better.

Doubt I'll see them then
We should be thinking long term for energy anyway. Seeing that 2035 will see the end of installing gas heaters we need nuke asap as solar panels and wind turbines won't be able to keep up. Question, how long do solar panels last?

Panel warranties are for 25 years, but they're likely to keep working at decreasing efficiency for much longer than that.peter_the_piper said:Question, how long do solar panels last?

Question, how long do solar panels last?It won't, it's just green BS, there are at least two more General elections and a possible financial crash away from 2035A back of fag packet calc by those in the heating trade reckon there are just not enough plumbers, gas fitters etc to even start replacing all the UK gas boilers let alone complete the taskThink HS2 for political BS, apparently a huge Northern chunk is about to be cancelled despite all the waffle in the past. I suggest once reality sinks in and current lot of politicians are upgraded to Lord and fresh lot of politicians are facing elections suitable fudges will be found
