Car tax/SORN/Insurance

If a fully ‘taxed’
and ‘insured’ vehicle is unexpectedly to be kept off-road on private property for an
indeterminate period...and during that indeterminate period
the vehicles insurance expires,... what
is the situation with the ‘road-tax’ if the road-tax still has a few weeks/months
still to run?
Can the remaining road-tax on the mothballed vehicle just be left to run-on after the insurance expires?...or does the vehicle need to be officially SORN’d from the moment the insurance expires?
Is it an offence to leave a car that is being kept strictly off-road (but not officially SORN'd) ‘taxed’ for a few weeks or so after the insurance on said car lapses?
Apologies if the question is a bit confusing,...coz I’m a bit confused myself, tbh.

It's automatically deemed to be (illegally) uninsured when the policy expires, if you haven't SORNed it.2

Just wondering but if the car is being kept off road I'd just SORN it. There's no limitation on how long it can be SORNed for so you could SORN for a couple of days onwards. Might be implications re car tax if you declare SORN and put it back on the road in a short period but saves concern over any potential issues.1

Get your whole months car tax claimed back via gov.uk. they can send you a cheque.
If it is properly private land with no public access , you can keep whatever you want on it.

(Do it in office hours though, some DVLA functions don't work at night)I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
