Hi,
My husband recently passed away without leaving a will. Everything will just go to me.
We jointly owned the house and it has no mortgage. He had his own bank account and we had a joint one. He had a private pension and death in service insurance with his job.

You will only need to apply if his bank account held more money the the bank would release without probate. This varies as banks set their own limits, Barclays for instance will pay out up to £30k without probate.2
