Civil Service jobs - what does Nationally actually mean in a job advert

Okay, daft question alert.  Looking at a Civil Service Job advert and the job location says `nationally'. What does this actually mean?

It is only one post being recruited, so not a national recruitment drive. The advert doesn't state that it is remote working or that travel to a specific office will be required like some of the adverts.

I have never really thought about if before, as other jobs I have applied for have always stated a base or at least a region.

Basically means 'not London' and the pay bands will reflect that.

Normally it would mean that the post can be located anywhere that the Department in question has offices, including London meaning if you are successful you can work from any hub.

  • Thanks sammyjammy, that is what I had thought.
