gas and electric price rise.

Had a email from British Gas need to up my direct debit to £197 per month from £177 but when i checked about a week before i was £80.00 in credit.Went on website and after a bit of navigating confirmed i was on fixed term until June 2022. but the web site came up i was paying too much and should reduce it to £168 per month guess what i did?

    If you were only £80 in credit going into winter then my hunch is actually that an increase wasn't a silly idea to cover costs but so long as you'll have no issue covering a negative balance if it arrises then there will be no issue.

    Edit: assuming your current credit balance is based on actual usage data rather than estimates.

    Well, I would guess that you submitted your latest meter readings to correct the situation.

    However, having been a British Gas customer myself many years ago (never again!) I think it will probably take several more regular meter readings before you can convince their computer that people normally pay more for their energy bills during the winter period than the rest of the year!
