I’ve just moved to a new house, the electricity supplier has gone bust, the house has been empty for a few months, the electric was not turned off, so who should I contact for my electric, I have electricity but I’m uncertain as how much it is, what, if any, tariff is in place etc etc, so should I just sit back and wait for someone to contact me? I believe the old suppler was Igloo Energy

You''ll need to find out who is your DNO, and then their website will tell you who your supplier is / was. You'll then need to register with them or their SoLR.Probably best to stay on their default Standard Variable Tariff because it's capped until April when the weather will be warmer and your usage will be less.0

You became responsible for the energy bills as soon as you took ownership or lease on the property. Take photos of the meters so you know your starting point. While the house was empty, before you took ownership, the previous owner/tenant/landlord is responsible. If it has been empty after you became the owner/tenant you have to cover energy usage while it was empty. When you have found out what the system says is your supplier as mentioned above, contact that supplier and open an account. If it is one of the recent casualties, then you should contact the Supplier of Last Resort who has taken over the accounts. DO NOT just sit back and wait for something to happen.0
