O/S Daily Thursday 14 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, dry at the moment, temperature has dropped, heating is on at the moment but I'll turn it off in a bit.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg and chips or fish and rice for DS1. Tonight will be gammon again, but tonight with hot new potatoes, pork pie and picky bits - gammon was a fair size so quite a bit left.
Work yesterday was ok, got done what I wanted and just today then off until Monday. Tomorrow will be disjointed as plumber is coming to fit new shower and taps in my en suite bathroom. I need to do all the normal jobs if possible, we'll see.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone
It's a bit chilly here this morning especially with the back door open for the pets. I could have quite happily stayed in bed today but we still have the grandchildren staying and they need to be fed and watered before school. My grandson asked for egg on toast for breakfast so I shall make that in a minute for him.
I have the district nurses coming today for a third attempt at a doppler scan. I really hope they get some results today as I find it quite a painful procedure. My leg is still leaking all the time so I could seriously do with some compression on it.
I ordered some beautiful sparkly yarn to make some bobble hats for all the ladies in my family. It is so lovely to work with as it is soft and self striping. I will churn those out for a while and then go back to my Christmas knitting.
Tea tonight is a bit of a mystery. I think I will do a freezer dip and see what appears. Yesterday I made a chilli which we all had with jacket potatoes.
Right, the frying pan is calling so I will love you and leave you. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx13 -
Morning folks.Happy knitting Dumpling 🧶
At exactly 10am yesterday the power went out. A large number of workmen and their vans had gathered at the corner of my track earlier and off they went. Off I went too! I drove up to Oban, picked up some things in the shops, had a great breakfast and then visited a couple of friends on the way back.In between all this I had three phone calls from my solicitor, the purchaser wanted to settle the sale after all and not wait until after the boiler service. There's hardly any phone signal in M&S Oban so I sat in my car for a while taking the calls and answering questions.Visiting my friends was lovely, lots of chat, coffee and biscuits. By the time I got home the power was back on so no need for my preparations but I lit the wood burner anyway. Later on another phone call from my solicitor confirmed that the purchaser had transferred the funds and the sale was concluded. My beloved late DM's flat has a new owner who loves the place as much as she did. The sale is the final chapter in the life and death of my DM.
Now is the time for quiet reflection and a delve through memories.Last night I caught up with GBBO and NCIS. I'm only on season 17 (no Sky) but read that Mark Harmon leaves part way through season 19. ☹️TA. - you were on my mind a lot yesterday. It's hardly credible that three years have gone by since your beloved Bob passed. I know you'll have had a good time with your DD.Today the missing gardener may come but the weather is already pretty rotten so she may not. I've got a delivery due but I have a feeling it'll not arrive until tomorrow. I want to hang some more pictures which I particularly like and which have been lingering in bubble wrap for too long.Hugs to our missing and poorlies. Happy Thursday to all13 -
Morning all
Cold here again this morning but the heating has come on so should warm up soon. I really am not a morning person and am struggling to get myself out of bed in the mornings.
Back to work today with my temproary (thank goodness !) manager I shall work till 1.30 or 2 and then I am going to pick up a click and collect food shop and come home and put that all away, once thats done I can have a sit down for an hour.
I found out yesterday that I can apply for that job which is great news so I shall do that over the next few days, I am not sure I will get it but it seems to be the ideal job for me so fingers crossed.
HM soup tonight and some nice crusty bread thats the last of the hm dinners until I make some more, I will try to do some Sunday. DW needs emptying this morning and a quick tidy of the lounge.
Poor old Nels seems to have picked up norovirus bless her I had a quick text from her last night saying she felt quite poorly and she was going back to sleep I think she felt very rotten.
Right have good days all xxxx13 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
We are on a nice mooring, no need for the gang plank so I will be able to clean the windows on the towpath side. We will stay here a few days as there is a nice walk around the lake for Beano and a big field to play in.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.11 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It doesn't feel too chilly this morning although my phone temp tells me otherwise, so the heating is on for a quick blast.
Thanks for your good wishes yesterday. I had an absolutely delicious meal with DD, sharing our memories, and the restaurant lived up to the glowing references. We stuffed 3 courses down (I had smoky hummus, broccoli and blue cheese pasta and then the most yummy coconut and strawberry cheesecake) It was wildly expensive but I shall gloss over that! After two days of eating out I must eat sensibly for a few days now to compensate.
The usual Thursday jobs await today but I am in no rush to start them! Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Poor NELS is succumbing to one thing after another and I have fingers crossed she will soon be rid of the virus. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -

Pleased you had a good day TA and good luck with the new job RR
Quiet day today nothing much planned.
the skin over the breast cancer area has broken down and they have offered me some radiotherapy which should improve things. Best if I accept I think. Our local hospitals etc. are so good.
Glad the sale of the flat has gone through GERS12 -
Morning all,
Thinking of you all.
No major plans for today, I have the parent’s online food shop arriving today and there are no shortages or substitutions which I was surprised about.
Then, I need to dust under the furniture in the sitting room which is a job I keep putting off.If I really feel up to it, I should empty the bookcase and dust too.OS for today? I am going to go through my old linens and repurpose for cleaning rags. Plus go through the wardrobe and see if there are any clothes that can go to the charity shop.Take care all.

Morning - a dull, damp looking day here with showers forecast but hoping they stay away this afternoon as OH and I taking the dogs to secure field then (twice in one week the girls won't know themselves). It's our 41st wedding anniversary and we certainly know how to live the high lift. We hadn't sorted anything for today as had someone coming out to sort gutters - had Niagra Falls going down front of house when we had heavy rains other week but they could not give me a time and as it was, they were here at 8am and all finished now. Have to sort out what to make for evening meal, useless asking OH as very rare he will say he wants a certain meal just eats what I put in front of him - he is not a cook.
Hugs to all poorlies and those going through rough times hugsxNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch
