Hey.
Went to a fast food outlet today, parked in the car park  and went to the front door only to find it was closed.
The system there is that you park up, then go into the shop and whilst your in there and then enter your reg details into a communal tablet else they can fine you.

Obviously as the shop was closed I was unable to enter my details and left 2 minutes later after arriving there.
I went back later and parked elsewhere, just so I could ask the staff who told me it has nothing to do with them and i'd need to contact the company who own the car park.
I phoned them up and he said it shouldn't be a problem as I didn't " Use the facility "
I just don't want to be hit with a parking ticket when I'm not in the wrong.

Can anyone advise ? Thanks

You cannot do anything more than you have at this stage.

If you receive a request for payment through the post, then post in the "Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking" sub-forum of this forum for assistance on how to manage your response.

If you were truly only there for two minutes then that would fall into the allowance given to familiarise yourself with the details of the parking scheme.

In other words there is always an allowance to give you time to get out of your car, walk to the signage, read it and then decide whether or not you agree with the terms and conditions and park or leave.

There's plenty of threads on the parking forum if you want to read up on the process.

OK thanks guys. If I do get anything through the post ( hopefully not ) I'll do some reading and contest it.
In future i'll just park somewhere else to play it safe.

It's a bit nifty because if you don't know the system there, it's easy to park up, go in and eat etc and completely miss the tiny signage and the conveniently hidden tablet which is by the side of the till
