Scottish Confirmation

I am currently dealing with my mother’s estate and applying for Confirmation. There was no property (Dad was a church minister!) and all there is - is £52k gross - £46k net - in cash and investments (from 3 banks/investment companies). All these have paid out to me. The estate is to be equally divided between my 2 brothers and me.
The confirmation form C1 and C5 is proving to be a nightmare because we have no property and mum was in a care home for 4 years so all her possessions were distributed amongst the family back then.

My question is - Do I actually need confirmation as the banks have paid out so all I have to do is to distribute the residue equally amongst the 3 of us as per the Will?

Thanks in advance.

If you are the executor of the Will and no property to sell then I can’t see any need for confirmation. It is really only a document to prove you are the executor and entitled to deal with the estate should any financial institution require legal proof before releasing any money.

No property to convey, no funds still to be released, and no shares involved. As GSS20 suggests, confirmation not requied.

Thank you both GSS20 and buddy9. It makes sense to not pay £250 and all the hassle with filling in forms to get Confirmation for already released bank accounts.  I will keep the C1 and C5 on file in case I am required to submit it.

Many thanks and so glad (along with countless others!) that I found this forum.
