As an aside, a few years ago I owned a Ford Kuga. I received a letter from Ford stating that whilst the handbrake does not have a fault, the recommendation was to leave the car in gear when parking on a slope as there had been instances of that model rolling if parked on the handbrake and left in neutral.

    Wish I'd kept the letter.

The advice has always been to leave a vehicle in gear when parking on a slope, and to angle the wheels to the kerb.  Most of us don't do either.
