Halifax TMPP

I took out a TMPP from the Halifax over 20 years ago which was advised from the Lender if I was to be successful with my mortgage application, this was to cover Life Insurance, Critical Illness and Redundancy, 12 years later my wife passed away from breast cancer and to my surprise my wife wasn't covered even though her name was on the policy ? 8 years later I found myself redundant due to the pandemic, I now find myself unable to keep up with my mortgage payments as I have to provide proof of unemployment (Whilst the whole of the country was in lockdown) couldn't claim any benefits due to the payment I should have received from the TMPP
What is the best advise I can get of anyone ?

Get proof of being unable to work and provide it to the insurer.
read the terms & conditions of insurance products you take out in the future.
I presume that’s the advice you’re after? There’s not a whole lot else to advise on at this point. If you’re angling at complaining about it being mis-sold, you’re more than 2 years late.
