as you probably all know with the amount of thread i've created (sorry!
) i'm getting a new car. I've been to various delearships some of whom push additional products on you, some who don't. One of the products mentioned by one of them though was gap insurance which i though might be worth it? The car i'm getting however is from a different dealership, a less pushy one, in fact they havent offered my any additional ad ons. I could ask them about Gap insurance but it's a distance sale, so i'm not sure if i'm better of just sourcing this myself as my undertsanding is its a stand alone product anyway.
Can anyone recommend any companies that offer competitive prices for gap insurance. Is it worth investing in gap insurance?
thanks in advance

Remind us, are you buying brand new or used, finance or not?
With the latter GAP is definitely worth it, some might say essential, and it's fairly cheap if you get it from a third party. I would never buy it from a dealer.
Recommendations include ALA or GAPInsurance.co.uk, there are plenty of others.1 -

I got 4 years Gap Insurance with ALA through Pistonheads website(10% discount I think)
It cost about the same as the dealership wanted for 2 years0 -

In addition, dealerships can no longer sell you Gap insurance on the same day they sell you a car. There must be at least a two-day break unless you decide to waive the waiting period.

Gap is very good, very cheap and Martin has a guide about buying it. He also has recommended suppliers, none of which were very cheap when I bought it but shop around as always.0

Definitely don't buy from the dealer. I have used GAP that I bought on line, far cheaper. My car was stolen and the insurance were not giving me very much, so claimed off GAP and they made up the difference. I was so glad that I took it out and I have taken out another policy for my latest car for 5 years. Certainly was worth it.0
