The best and the worst of comping...

Options
Imagine someone asking you if comping is worth doing.

What one reason would you give to encourage them and what one thing would you warn them about?

Pro: The thrill of an unexpected win (they ALL are unexpected!)
Con: Have to learn not to be disappointed when you don't win, particularly for things you set your heart upon (and NOT winning can last for years!!)

Pro...the feeling of winning a prize and a detraction from anything :)
Con.....Not winning for months on end :) sometimes longer :( Many hours can be wasted comping and is time consuming :(
2011 & 2012 - Many Fantastic Prizes - thank you to all posters 2021 7 small prizes 2022 1 small clever pots win2023 £50 Yours Mag 2024 £100 Thats Life, book win, Thats Life Crime, June, £100 Codebreakers, December Elf The Musical tickets and an overnight stay in Newport 2025
  • It’s a great way to distract one’s self from all the bad news going on.
It can be very time-consuming, hours spent comping with no rewards, so in reality much of that is wasted.

Pros: Great hobby to do, you can do it when you are listening to music or catching up on a TV show or film, can be shared with others and friendships can be made. and possible rewards.

Cons: I feel judged by some, those that don't understand the enjoyment and comping, also when you do win something, people think they are entitled to it or put in 'their order' as if you can pick and choose and you're going to put your time in to winning everything for them.

Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.

Pro: The feeling of 'in it together'.

Con: Making a mistake when listing or replying, and feeling like you've let others down.

Pro - The thrill of winning an unexpected prize, and gifting it to family if it's something you don't want yourself.

Cons - All the spam that lands in your inbox!  Even though I usually choose no contact when entering competitions, my spam filter is usually full.

I would warn them about volunteering to post Mag Dailies, I have got cramp in my Mouse finger today.
I guess the pro would be telling them that they won't have to post any mag dailies, cos we have a kind sausage who does that for us already B) Sorry about your repetitive mouse injury.
