British Gas Existing Customer Experiencing Difficulty Changing to a Chosen Tariff 😭
Options
😁Hello to all of us adrift on a VERY stormy Energy Sea at the moment.😭
😶I have been a Dual Fuel Smart Meter customer of British Gas for many years now.
😶I had previously been on an already existing Fixed Energy Plan which was due to end on 30 September 2021, so it as was no surprise when I received a letter from BG informing me of this and sending details of a quoted Tariff they thought I might be interested in?
😶I had chosen my own Tariff the previous year before (2020) - so I decided to request some quotes from BG on my online account and then, still in my online account, I again just as I had the year before, clicked on the link underneath the BG quoted Tariffs which gives you access to a myriad of further completely and utterly 100% BG Tariffs.
😶This is how you get there on your online account underneath their quoted tariffs (click on the underlined link "can be found here" directly underneath...) which brings you out to another BG webpage asking for information such as your postcode, method of payment and if you are a dual fuel customer etc. 👇👇👇👇👇👇

😶After looking down what appears to be an endless list, I decided to look at another Fixed Price Tariff for Dual Fuel, which I chose.
😶I don't pay by Direct Debit but by quarterly payments.
😶 I initially requested to change to this new Tariff on 21/09/21. I have already raised one official complaint with their complaints team who utterly and absolutely assured me that my chosen Tariff would be in situ on my Account within ten days of 21/09/21.
😶After my previous Fixed Tariff ended on 30/09/21, I was placed on their "Standard Variable Tariff" (perhaps no surprises there...)
😶On 07/10/21 I was even more bewildered to see a Tariff I had never heard of before called "Price Promise September 2022" as the Tariff for both my fuels!!!😵😱
...so I very naturally complained...
😶I was then assured that by today (10/10/21) I would most definitely, utterly and (again absolutely) be on my solely and only requested Fixed Tariff which was neither Standard Variable OR Price Promise September 2022!!!
I am still waiting BG. I get the uncomfortable feeling I am being "fobbed off..."
😶I really wouldn't mind if it was at least explained to me why British Gas keep stalling on me and TBH I feel totally not in command of my energy account with them (I am not in any debt with them, but if this keeps up!!!).
😭If I was to decide to switch energy suppliers - going by the very stormy energy supplier climate raging at this present moment in time in the UK - I could find myself once again back upon the doorstep of BG after next April.😭
Any advice on this would be very gratefully received indeed.😁👍
Thank you.

On the all our tariffs page it says something like "not all of these are available".What exactly is the name of the tariff you're trying to switch to?N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

In my experience British gas call centre staff are unable to do simple things like work a computer and change tariffs. I expect the tariff you wanted to move to is no longer offered and it's probably cheapest to stick with the variable rate as it is the cheapest tariff available now.In Progress!!!1

HiQrizB🙌
The name of the Tariff is:- FIXED PRICE SEPTEMBER 2022
I checked last night in the BG site and it is still show as available.
TBH, I am seriously thinking of going to another provider, Customer Service with BG appear ineffective this year.😭
BG Customer Service was brilliant twelve months ago. 😁
What has changed since then I wonder❓

I checked last night in the BG site and it is still show as available. When you say "it's available", do you mean it's offered to you? Or just that it's on that webpage? When I look up that tariff, just underneath it it says:Important information
- This tariff may no longer be available to sign up to and is included for refrence purpose only.See our current energy tariffs here.
I suspect the tariff is not available and that's why you haven't been switched to it, no matter what BG CS say.(In my region, the tariff has gas at 2.4p/kWh and electricity at 14.2p/kWh, little more thna half the current going rate.)N. Ask to go in the svr you won’t get better prices at the moment, it seems like you picked a tarrif that’s no longer available ( may have been when you originally asked but that will involve a large argument I expect )1

@Tim1965 judging from this post on a different thread, the Fixed Price Sep 2022 tariff was withdrawn some time before 16/09/2021, so at least five days before you asked to switch to it.

Helped a relative switch to this (BG Fixed Price Sep 2022) a year ago - it was a 2 year fixed rate lauched in September 2020. Not been available for a long time..

Looked into it and it looks very much as if other providers are now "closing the stable doors" so to speak and advising people to hang on with their existing suppliers...
If they don't swap me over (doesn't look very hopeful does it?) I think I will hang fire and stick with the Tariff what I have got!😁
Thank you most sincerely for your input, it was much appreciated.👍
