I did phone this morning but got nowhere.
My debit card is about to expire on 31st October. I am waiting for new card, but there has been a delay which Santander acknowledges, so I won't receive new one until 20th or shortly after. I have the current card registered with PayPal but changed to my bank account being my primary payment method. I received an email from PayPal saying my card was due to expire, and please update my card. I did not follow any links but logged on through the proper site. I tried explaining to the woman I spoke to but all she kept saying was I will send an email explaining how to update to new card.
So, what I really want to know? As my bank account is my primary payment method with PayPal can I still use it until my new card arrives? I know the bank still saying I can use the current card until the last day of this month, but online do not seem to like this.
Thank you for the answer.

You should be able to use your bank account as the PayPal method. Mine is my primary funding source, with my card as a separate option.1

It will work, but with one caveat. PayPal sends payments as eCheques when there isn't a card associated with the sending account. eCheques take longer for the payment to "clear" with the recipient than a normal payment.1

Oh! No idea what the problem with Santander is, but my first email said new card arriving on the 15th a few days later it was the 20th.
