O/S Daily Sunday 10 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light and dry. Yesterday afternoon was lovely once the fog had cleared, got a wash load line dried and sat outside at 1 lot of elderly relatives and the sun was lovely, really warm, we certainly won't be getting to many more days like that!
DH watching catchup tv, I'm enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar whilst on here, I'll be heading for a shower shortly. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken korma, rice, naan breads and poppadums - DH moaned not enough sauce, but everyone ate it none left and no-one else moaned, I ignored. Today we have roast chicken and stuffing for lunch, I'll do all the normal extras.
We'll be heading out this morning to try to buy a new DVD player - hopefully we can find a suitable one, ours has given up. Once we've done lunch - I'll be chilling for the rest of the afternoon.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
We're moving again today, I wanted to stay for a day as this is a lovely spot but the willow tree we are moored under is shedding its leaves and Steve is getting very stressed about them!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.11 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC, good luck with your search!
I looked out the back bedroom window at 6.00 am and I swear I could see every star in the sky. It was beautiful but a bit chilly! In view of the forecasted drop in temps I left a chicken breast joint defrosting last night as a roast dinner at lunchtime sounded a good idea.. I shall do enough veg to have a repeat dinner warmed up tomorrow.
DS called yesterday for a natter and we brought my new this year garden seat into the garage for the winter. I don't want another going rotten on me! After the last few sunny days of 20 deg today we are promised 15 deg and dropping so I don't think I will be needing it again now until next Spring.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Thinking of NELS and MARIE. POPPY it was good to hear your doctor has given you something to help with your sickness. Take care one and all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. Morning All
Looks like it could be a nice day, much cooler but at least it's not raining for now. The last few days have been horrible with unseasonal warmth and rain, everywhere seems to be damp and full of condensation. I have all the windows open to try to air the house with some slightly fresher air.
I had to use the TD yesterday, too much for the pulley, back to normal today. Once I've been for a swim I should be able to hang the towels and wetsuit out for a while. Bathrooms cleaned and the house is fairly tidy for the visitors, not that they will notice! Looking forward to seeing the DGC, not seen them since we went back to school.
I made oatie biscuits yesterday along with some vegan chocolate buns - they're not too bad but a little 'sticky'. Also made a big pot of soup and cooked a piece of gammon, it seemed cheaper to slice a joint than buy cooked ham for sandwiches, DS1 will be happy. I'll get the children to make and decorate a cake for DS1 tomorrow as it's his birthday.
Off to friends for afternoon tea this afternoon before the family arrive, DD picking me up which is a bonus.
Thinking of the poorlies, thanks for the update Ruby. Poppy, hopefully the new medication will help.
Happy Sunday, take care. XX10 -
Hi everyone,
I'm glad the doctor was able to help Poppy.
I was a bit more productive yesterday and determined to carry on. I also geeed up Steve who replaced the utility room tap that he's been threatening to do for a couple of weeks. I'm so pleased, the one we had in there was an IKEA one nd very stiff to use so I usually didn't. We spent a bit more this time and got one with a better action so hopefully it will be used a bit more. Steve was cursing the plumber who put it in because he had to replace a fair bit of the pipework under the sink.
I've made up a complete meal plan for next week and want to make up a few of the dishes today. We might have L and E to stay tomorrow and Tuesday so I shall make double and freeze what's not needed if they don't come.
Have a good day.10 -
Morning folks. It's much colder here too today, the mild weather was very weird. I was very cosy in bed and now don't really want to get up. But I will.I enjoyed Bond though will go to see it again as I always miss so much when the action is so fast. Perhaps wearing my hearing aid would help too. 😀 My trip back home was also good, not too much traffic and not too much rain. By the time I got here the rain had stopped so filled up the bird feeders before unpacking my stuff. I'd taken the opportunity to do some shopping for essentials (gin, tonics and whisky) 😊 where there was a better selection. Strictly was watched from the comfort of my bed though I struggled to watch to the end, once the final dancer's scores were given the TV was off. Think I was asleep within five minutes.Today I'll be setting up the new printer I bought yesterday. Faffing with the 'old' one took up too much time on Thursday, caused me a lot of stress and is still not working so I shall recycle it. There will be a washing load done too, rain isn't forecast for today even though it's cold so I doubt that it will dry outside but I'll hang it out for a while anyway. Now my thoughts are with all our poorlies and missing. Happy Sunday to all.11

Good morning everyone
I didn't realise I hadn't been on since Thursday so been having a nice catch up.
Brought my breakfast back to bed but will have to move soon to get ready to go down to dad while mam is at church.
Little one stayed on Friday night - she was fast asleep by half 6 so was up and full of beans before 7. She came in with me for a 'snuggle' for a little while.
She's made more progress this week - she saw her consultant on Tuesday and he decided to try to stop her daytime 'tummy milk'. Now she just has it for 12 hours overnight. It will hopefully make her a bit hungrier so she will eat more food. She still needs water put into her tummy several times a day to keep her hydrated. She is enjoying the novelty of being able to drink but isn't actually drinking much - to be honest juice or water mixed with the thickener is quite gloopy.
We had a lovely morning yesterday - a trip on the bus to the library. There was a table set out with 'making things' so I cut out 2 card pumpkins for her and she decorated them - she loved it. Then we had an hour in the park where she went on everything that's not too high - we both ended up scruffy as it was quite muddy and she needs lifted on and off a few things so her shoes got my jeans muddy.
Then DD met us for lunch which was really nice - we go to this cafe a lot and they make such a fuss of little one - she loves it and her quarter portion of macaroni cheese.
Then we had a look in the big salvation Army shop - went halves with DD on a lovely toddler bed for little one - it was only £40 and looks like new. She dropped us off at home and went back for it - lovely video of little one 'discovering' it in her room later. She was so excited. She has been trying to climb out of her cot and as she is attached to her milk machine, she could pull the tube out of her tummy so a change was necessary.
Once DD had got the bed sorted and her cot moved out she went and got us Chinese for tea - which was delicious - little one was so excited - she loves Chinese!
The cot I have here turns into a bed so I'll have to sort it for next weekend. She really seems to be coming on leaps and bounds at the minute, fingers crossed she stays well over the winter. We didn't expect her to give up her dummy so easily but she has just accepted that the fairies 'needed' them.
Sorry - I've waffled a bit this morning! Better get myself moving!
hope everyone has a good day12 -

Morning all
Dull and overcast here and rain due later I think, Im just sat here with a cuppa OH is at the boot sale and dd and big pup are still in bed so all quiet for now.
Yesterday OH made and fitted the new fire trim it looks so much better and covers the horrible crack completly, he also fitted the new loo seat which is also much better.
We are having a roast today and I shall do enough for tomorrow too and I want to make up a casserole so that I can just shove it in the oven after work on Tuesday, If I get time I will make a cottage pie as well. I have joined an online group for Tamoxifen users and am discivering that the symptoms I am having are very common, complete exhaustion is one of them and going back to work has just highlighted how tired I am, also hot flushes which are awful I counted during the night and I had 10 which is not helping with being tired, so I thought if I can get as much done today as possible it will save me doing it after work when all I want to do is sleep.
I spoke with Nels yesterday they have moved her to a rehab centre which is good but she now needs to isolate in her room for ten days which is not soo good, but hopefully its a step nearer to getting back to her own home.
Camelot enjoy having your family over xxx
Have good days all xxx10 -
Morning all,
Lovely to read all your chatty news.
I was definitely under the weather yesterday, went to bed at 8.15pm and have just got up! My fibromyalgia is definitely getting worse again so will speak with doctor about starting a different med sometime this week.
Wasn’t yesterday a beautiful day? I managed to get myself to the lake which is about a five minute walk from home and it was delightful, all the ducks, swans and a cormorant. Lots of gorgeous dogs enjoying their walks too, such a nice way to spend a late Saturday afternoon. We are hoping to go back in the week with the binoculars and some bird seed.
Today will be resting, I am going to cook a braised beef curry recipe which I tried for the first time last week which we both enjoyed. I got the recipe off google so hopefully will find it again, although it wasn’t too complicated as I used curry powder instead of all the individual ingredients. Not much else planned, I will try and speak with mum. I never know the best time to visit or call as she spends so much time asleep since returning from hospital.
I had to have the little fan heater on this morning, but will switch off now, mindful of the costs. I’ve got my dressing gown on and my hot chocolate so all is good.
Thinking of all and take care.
