Strange iPhone battery problem

I'd still recommend a battery change to tide you over until the iphone SE3 comes out next year, which would future-proof you even more.Deleted_User said:
Or you just buy another SE for £439 at 128gb…. Apple don’t always want you to buy a £1000 phonezagubov said:My apple iphone SE has a dodgy battery life so I carry a powerbar with me. The phone runs the latest iOS and has 128Gb storage so it's not full yet and fits into any size pocket.
I'd rather pay £50 for a new battery than buy a new phone, lose all my Whatsapp messages, spending a good fraction of a grand on a fractionally "improved" product. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
No one knows if they will come out with a new SE next year.ripplyuk said:@zagubov How do you know they’ll make a new SE for next year? I thought Apple were planning to stop making them, with the 12 and 13 minis as alternatives. However the 12 and 13 minis are not alternatives to the SE simply because they have not reached SE price point.0 -
I ordered the 12 mini and the battery seems a bit rubbish. I haven’t even fully set it up yet so it’s not doing anything and yet the battery drains quite a lot. Overnight it dropped 10%, despite being untouched. Is this normal? My old iPhone SE used to last 3-4 days when I first got it.I’m thinking of returning this 12 mini but apparently the 2020 SE has an even worse battery. Are all batteries just rubbish these days?1

A few gadget sites (techradar, macworld, tomsguide etc.) have been speculating over the last few days there might be an SE 3 early next year. Just rumours probably but sounds interesting to me.ripplyuk said:@zagubov How do you know they’ll make a new SE for next year? They are backed up, you know the code and can transfer. (unless you did not do this).I am on android. I assume ios has the same.In fact changing phone is easy and everything is always restored (if I want to).0

There is no Apple store near me or I would just replace the battery on my old phone. I could post it off but then I’ll be stuck without a phone for a week or more.Just out of curiosity, why would anyone want to keep their old WhatsApp messages? To me, one of the perks of buying a new phone is getting rid of all the junk and clutter. I never restore from backup.0

the 12 mini has a larger battery than the 2020 iPhone SE. Perhaps give it a few more days to see if it stabilises before your returns deadlineripplyuk said:I ordered the 12 mini and the battery seems a bit rubbish. With regards battery usage you really have to dig into the settings to nail down many apps, i knock off bluetooth as well but that needs doing at every update. If I use the Ordnance Survey app I can drain the battery 50% or more on an afternoons walk (GPS function is thirsty).
My 2020SE is a tad better than my 6s but then the SE2 is just a re badged 8 (sort of). Battery was never going to be much to write home about.1 -
Size of battery is only one consideration... larger screens, more powerful processors etc all generally take up more power hence generally (this year is an exception) we see a step up in battery capacity but a static run time.coffeehound said:

My iPhone 6s went funny on its battery too all of a sudden... battery health was still low 90s% so deemed reasonable but you could discharge it fully with one hours play of Tetris but also almost fully recharge in under an hr on a 5w charger which shouldnt have been the case. The obvious option was to replace the battery but the screen had been replaced previously with a non-genuine etc so bit the bullet and upgraded. With my relatively light use I am now back to a 2 day run time from a single charge.1
