I'm a bit concerned about this one. I got an Instagram message saying I'd been selected as a winner but had to register on a random site and put in card details!3

*PLEASE BE AWARE OF FAKE AND SPAM ACCOUNTS THAT ARE TARGETING GIVEAWAYS. I WILL NEVER ASK YOU TO CLICK A LINK OR ASK FOR ANY PAYMENT INFORMATION. THE WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON MY STORIES AND ON THIS POST*lollyp said:I'm a bit concerned about this one. Happens a lot where _ is used to fake a brand etc. to change name and a clue is where the account is private.4 -

Fraudsters regularly clone social media (especially Instagram and Facebook) accounts to try and trick you into revealing personal or financial information.A few pointers:-
- the account name will be mispelled, have an extra underscore, have "official" added to the end, etc
- why would they contact you now when the closing date isn't until November?
- you don't need to register on a website or follow another social media account. You have already followed them on TW or FB or IG to enter the competition.
- you don't need to give any financial information like bank details. It isn't a cash prize. It's an advent calendar so if you do win (after 14/11) they will only need your address to send it to you.
- just block these fake accounts and report them to TW / FB / IG.

Nearly every comp via Insta has a fake comp winning account who mail you with a link to put in your bank details.....block them and report them, I also let the original account via Insta know about the fake account too....some have added to their info that they DO NOT ask for bank details etclollyp said:I'm a bit concerned about this one. Yes, that was definitely a scam account. I regularly have scam accounts follow me, trying to trick me. Advice above is great.
This is a very popular prize, so probably attracted the scammers pretty quickly!February wins: Theatre tickets2
