Any reason why you wouldn't go fully electric? You'll soon recoup the difference in purchase price with the reduced running costs.

That's not why I turned down the C-HR, it was because it wasn't compatible with OpenPilot.
Is that really such a key factor?
I need to think of something new here...

    Op.
Have you actually test driven any of the cars you keep throwing out there for people to choose for you?

Maybe a day round many of the dealers in Brum would be good idea to see just what really floats your boat. A few evenings looking at reviews on U-Tube.

Or I sense a thread in a while. Bought a car 300 miles away & now have problems 🤷‍♂️
Ha, yes I have test driven the C-HR and the Audi A3. VW didn't have a GTE but I am booked to test the Corolla later in the week.

I think I have watched every video (in English anyway) of the 4 cars!

I'm not that daft to buy something across the country.... anymore :)

I agree that the Corolla is more bland than the C-HR :(
I know the Corolla is a slightly more recent model launch than the CHr, but would assume the electronics is essentially the same between the two cars and compatibility with OpenPilot unchanged.

You may have checked and verified a difference in compatibility.

FWIW, I would be hesitant to add any kind of after-market driver-aid such as the OpenPilot as I just don't think I'd trust it.  That is a personal opinion only though, and not based on any fact or experience.
I have researched this and been on their forums etc. With Toyota's the system it connects with is something called TSS and there are apparently different versions between the Corolla and C-HR. One of their MODS said a 2019 Corolla was the best bet.

I too am a natural cynic but if not for hours of youtube watching users and reading some trusted reviews, I want to give it a go. If its rubbish, I'll send it back for a full refund and wait for a used Telsa to come up!

Maybe I've missed something, but what mileage are you doing? How long are most of your trips?

Who so many comments about the Corolla being dull/bland etc.  I think it looks much better than a Golf or Audi A3…

I have a Corolla estate , it’s the 2 litre engine so has plenty of power

not sure 19k would get you a 2 litre Corolla excel though
