HP Laptop WiFi connection issues

My HP Pavilion laptop (bought new 2019) is having connection issues when coming out of the lock screen or after restart, the status says 'Connected No Internet' (all other devices connected to the router work fine) It is a real pain getting internet back and involves several attempts of disconnecting and reconnecting and turning WiFi of and on. Could this be a sign of the Wifi card failing? Operating system Windows 10 20H2 and fully up to date.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

Likely the power saving feature is switching off the network card to save power - and it's not waking up properly afterwards.
Try disabling power saving related to network (in windows control panel), and check if the drivers and firmware are on the latest & greatest.0 -
Have you run the built-in Windows Network Troubleshooter?

Yes I know, but it doesn't tell me anything I don't already know.gavinbaxter said:Have you run the built-in Windows Network Troubleshooter?

Surprisingly common problem this, however your instance is slightly different in that the Wifi appears to be connected but is stating no internet and you also have problems after a restart and not just sleep mode.
Answer above from alan_d is one to check first, you can find that setting by doing the first step on this page:
https://windowsreport.com/windows-8-1-disconnects-wi-fi-sleep-mode/#2
But also check a couple of other things:
1. Step 8 on the above link - setting the network to Private if it is not already (instead of public)
2. Turning off "Random hardware address" which can be found under:
Start button, then select Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks. Choose a network, then select Properties and choose the setting you want under Use random hardware addresses for this network.
3. It could be worth totally resetting the network adaptor by going in device manager, removing and letting it re-install itself on reboot.
4. If you haven't done recently, a reboot of the wifi router would also be worth doing.

My Probook has done that in the past, I just changed the card properties to stay awake and that seems to have solved it.0
