Smart meter fitted

Hi, need a little advice if i could.
We have had a pre payment electricity meter for almost 20 years. We have been with Bulb for the last 2 years. Am thinking should we change to a smart meter on a monthly debit account or is it best to say on pre payment. Like everyone else the bills for electricity has sky rocketed.

Not sure what Bulb's policy is for pre pay customers to change to credit meter BUT some suppliers will only allow if 1. a credit check is passed and/or 2. if the customer pays an upfront amount as a "safety" deposit, which can be £hundreds.
  • Thanks Dave,
they've done the credit check and has come back fine so that's ok.
And the cost to change is £120 according to there website. No mention of safety deposit upto now.
My main reason for changing is the cost of pre payment meters apparently you pay more than you would for a credit meter. Saying that the way things are now am not sure if that still stands.

It definitely won't be worth it at the moment as there is barely any difference in the prices between pre-pat and credit tariffs as they are all basically at the level of the price cap.

If it was free to change then possibly but certainly don't pay for it.

There isn't a lot of difference for sure.

It is about £31/year average difference between the cap for pre-payment and DD. (based on 3100kWh electric / 12,000 kWh gas)
