Is this an acceptable job by plumber

Just had bathroom panels put up and though not finished, should I be concerned about finishing of tiles.

Gap will be covered he said but where the tiles end there is a gap he said that’s unavoidable and and will fill and then down tiles don’t seem to fit flush with others.

Maybe photos don’t show this clearly but any thoughts much appreciated .

  • That's very shoddy. I always repeat the mantra. Good quality tiles done by a s*** trademan looks worse than average quality tile done by a pro.

It doesn't matter what the quality and pattern of the tile looks like, peoples eyes are drawn on the edging, the cuts around corners, the level and gaps between the titles.
  • The problem is you went to a plumber to do tiling and not a tiler.

A tiler would have straight tile snapping tools to make the line absolutely straight - ad more the tile gap between door frame and tile will be the same gap between the tiles.

The plumber seems to have used an angle grinder to cut it - which is ok to cut tiles around a toilet - unacceptable next to door frame.
  • You description contradicts what I'm seeing from the picture. ishe goight to put some sort of wood trim into that corner? that's unusaly to see.

Plumber is saying that tile ends a few mm short of the doorframe, but I can see the width of the tile is cut short - that's not the full width of the tile. Even if the tile fell too short - it's still tilers fault for not forward planning and calcuating where the tile will end and adjusting where necessary.

E.g. If I have a wall I need to cover and I'm tiling from left to right and using a full tile on the left means I will be left with a 5% gap on the right. Then I would cut the beginning tile 50% and continue the pattern and in the end I will use 55% tile on the right. I'm not even a tiler but I know this from tiling my kitchen floor.
  • Thank you for comments, I didn’t attached the raised tile on main wall and where the plumber ended the tiling which he said he will need to fill as couldn’t squeeze last tile in.

yes, that's terrible. Read my comment above. before laying down the tile a tiler would measure the width of the wall and calcuature how many spans of tiles they need to do a full coverage. If slightly above full lengths of titles then the tiler should use half tiles to begin with so they can finish with exactly the right amout of tile i nthe end.

This corner will be an eyesore and it will catch your eyes all the time.

Raised tile is also a problem, if the tiler argues the tiles are curved - yes large format tiles can be curved. But there are tile levelling systems that can be used to clampe the tiles not to each other and to bring them alight until the adhesive sets and holds the tile in place.

Are they tiles?? Look like pvc panels?
if in the last picture that’s a corner trim, totally unacceptable IMO,  just tell him your not happy with it, and give him the chance to correct it( at his/her expense).
And in the first picture it should have a J section end fitted up to the door,
OHhhh  nowt wrong with plumbers who tile, problem is plumbers who think they can tile.
