Samsung Fridge with Water Dispenser Question

I have had my fridge freezer for about 6 years and only just coming round to connecting it to a water supply.
Based on the water filter being a long tube-like filter, I assume I have an "external" variant - the model number of my fridge is RS7667FHCWW.

Installation looks fairly straight forward but does the filter belong outside the fridge/freezer?
I'm sure there is a gap either at the back of the fridge or at the back of the freezer behind one of the drawers that seems to perfectly fit the shape of the filter.  However, the filter wants changing every 6 months or so; I guess the gap is coincidental?

Any other tips for installing it?

Thanks

    Did you check the manual?
It says that there are two models (of the freezer) - with interior and exterior filter.
A "a long tube-like filter" is exterior and for some mysterious reason they call it 'purifier'. It's supposed to be fixed to a wall.

We put our filter where the fridge plumbing connects to the water supply, which is inside a cupboard next to the sink, that way changing the water filter is a fairly simple affair of opening the cupboard and swapping it out rather than pulling the fridge out.

Our first Samsung fridge freezer was like this. We made the mistake of fixing the filter to the wall, so had to pull out the fridge freezer to change the filter.
We now have a newer model and the filter is inside the fridge.

Have read through and I'm not sure what the space is in the freezer as all documents and videos point to it being installed outside of the unit somewhere.

I have a "Samsung RS7567BHCSP" which I got in 2018 which is probably very similar to yours, the inline filter is just behind the plinth next to the F/F, it's just sat on the floor.
you're supposed to change the filter every 6 months(the fridge will tell you to do it then anyway) so it's got to be put somewhere easily accessible.
I bought a pack of 10 of these type (on eBay) ages ago, I'm almost certain they weren't as expensive but can't find the receipt anywhere.
Edit, found it. 5 of them were £16.99 in 2019. so the price seems to have more than doubled in a short space of time. good old inflation
