Best "Hotel Only" Booking Website?

Hello all,
Advice please - which online hotel only booking service/website would you recommend?

I am wanting to book two nights in the same hotel in Sheffield City Centre - preferably Macdonald St Pauls (NOW MERCURE ST PAULS)on Saturday 26/4 and Sunday 27/4 for two people double room (hopefully with breakfast included).

I seem to recall using octopuss last year but on arriving and chatting to some people I met I recall that I hadnt got such a great deal after all!!

I am wanting to book ASAP as Snooker World Championships are on at that time and the prices for all hotels will rocket (no punn intended...) shortly.....

Any recommendations greatfully received. ;)

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Hotels.com or maybe Hotelopia but go through Quidco for your cash back bonus this can make a significant difference to the overal costs.

    try this as well http://www.hotelscomparison.com/

If HotelOpia are the cheapest there is a 10% code on the codes forum + 10% cash back makes them cheap
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel
  • Priceline is good, as is SuperBreak.

  • I've used in the past Alpha rooms, Hotels.co.uk and Late rooms.
Sometimes Last minute.com brings up a bargain or two.
  • The second place I look(after travelodge) is www.booking.com
Their website is really easy to navigate.

Just to let you know that this website is always my first port of call when I'm wanting to book hotel rooms as it includes most of the companies mentioned in the posts made. Also, don't forget to check the websites of the hotels as well as they sometimes have special offers listed (although it is unlikely that they will go as far as April just yet).

    Kind regards

  • accorhotels.com is usually the best site for hotels in their group - Mercure, Novotel, Ibis and others.

Thanks to all of you who gave me some advice. I wanted to let you know the outcome for interest's sake (if, indeed, you are interested!!!!)

Superbreak has come out on top at £220 INCLUDING BREAKFAST (The breakfast there is unbelievable!) with 7% (£15.40 = £204.60) back through Quidco.

Booking.com was VERY good at £195 EXCLUDING BREAKFAST and NOT on Quidco (so, I wont be going with it - The brekkie is worth the extra £9.60).

Booking direct with the Accor group of companies came in at a whopping £275 EXCLUDING BREAKFAST although you would get 7% back through Quidco.

The winner for the WORST DEAL was Hotels.com/Hotels.co.uk which came in at £290 EXCLUDING BREAKFAST and give 6.5% through Quidco.

So, Im gonna book through Superbreak ASAP before prices go up and THEY WILL COS THE SNOOKER IS ON DURING MY STAY!

I was hoping the Hotelopia had it cos the 10% discount code PLUS 10% Quidco makes it a great site to use if you can - thanks for the tip!

Thanks again to all who helped me - some of the sites such as Alpha Rooms & Late Rooms etc were either too expensive or didnt have that particular hotel.

use this link to book Superbreaks you get 12% off if it still works
    http://www.superbreak.com/home.cfm?company=IM982

Otherwise if you look in thetravel sites thread there is another one I put in there for 10% off

I link you might beable to go through quidco as well ...its worth a try
Click the quidco link then copy the last bit of the link above into the web bar
It might track but if it doesnt you still gain an extra 6% off
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel
  • I find www.travelrepublic.co.uk pretty good. When I've searched for cheap deals on hotels only, they often give the cheapest deal and if you enter a promotional code,(don't think I'm allowed to pass on the code on this thread) you get a further 5% off.
