WhatsApp keeps disabling itself on win 10 laptop.

I run WhatsApp on my windows-10 laptop. It is setup to autorun when the
laptop is switched on. It’s been working
perfectly for a number of years.
However, this morning I couldn’t open WhatsApp . Completely unresponsive.
I had to download the WhatsApp application again from:
https://www.whatsapp.com/download/?lang=en
After WhatsApp has been re-installed WhatsApp can be used as normal.
However, if I close WhatsApp it then becomes disabled and unresponsive again.
If WhatsApp is left running when the laptop is restarted or rebooted WhatsApp again becomes unresponsive.
It appears that closing Whatsapp actually disables it and the only solution is a full reload of WhatsApp again;...anyone else having issues on a windows laptop ?

Whatsapp sync with your mobile phone so its more plausible its having trouble seeing your phone. f you’re unable to send or receive messages on WhatsApp from your phone, then you won’t be able to use WhatsApp Web or Desktop on your computer.

This time however I installed the Windows Store version rather than the one from the WhatsApp website so I had to update my shortcuts which had stopped working - is it possible your auto start / shortcuts are now referring to the wrong version?0 -

Many thanks for the reply @Neil_Jones ...WhatsApp has no trouble connecting to my iphone. If I switch off the Wi-Fi on my iphone then WhatsApp (on my laptop) immediately won’t send or receive anything and I get the message ‘Phone not connected’,...which is exactly as it should be. The laptop ‘WhatsApp’ immediately reconnects when the phones’ Wi-Fi is switched on again, so I don’t think?? there is a communication problem.
WhatsApp on my laptop functions perfectly until the first time I close it. I then need to manually run the “WhatsAppSetup.exe” file all over again from scratch. I should be able to close and re-open WhatsApp on my laptop as many times as I like without the program malfunctioning, but that’s not the case. I get one session only....then kaput!
Hope that makes sense.

Yes, had exactly the same thing yesterday.
Had to re-install it a couple of times then, without doing anything different, it started working as normal again.
But it's stopped again today and I had to run the install script to get it to open again.
It did download a new version on Tuesday, I guess there's something wrong there.0 -

at least it's not just me! it’s a bit of pain though, eh?
I wonder if it’s something to do with their calamitous upgrade that caused a worldwide outage a few days ago.
I use WhatsApp on my laptop constantly so I hope there's a permanent fix soon.

When you run the WhatsAppSetup, it installs the previous release [ 2.2134.10 ] which works until, sometime later, it downloads and tries to install 2.2138.14, which screws things up from then on.
If you want a temporary way to start the working version without having to keep re-installing it, make a shortcut to
"C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Local\WhatsApp\app-2.2134.10\WhatsApp.exe"
on your desktop and use that.
