Can I claim back anything after having a new boiler installed?

In Jan this year my boiler went kaput. It was 13 years old & finally gave up the ghost. Right in the middle of winter, after christmas & while it was so hard to get anything done because of covid.
With three kidos, a husband and pets you can imagine we were scrambling for a bit.
We tried to get info on boiler help from the government etc but everywhere was shut down or working on little staff. We never heard back.
We begged, borrowed and luckily had a family friend give us a loan to pay for the new boiler.
I'm just wondering what others do in that situation.
We are struggling now due to that loan (all paid off but left us down).
I wondered if there were anything I could do to claim back anything or is that just wishful thinking.
Thought I'd ask incase there were any helpful suggestions. I'd be surprised but delighted if there were.
Please be kind. It took a lot to write on a forum.
Thank you.

There are sometimes schemes with grants to replace old inefficient boilers, but I doubt if any are applicable after the replacement's done. Approved contractors have to be used too.Assuming it's a gas boiler, these are shortly being phased-out for new installations; another reason why they're unlikely to be subsidised now. The intention is to go for air source heat pumps, but that will mean upgrading radiators too. Apparently, this makes sense to politicians, few of whom have intimate knowledge of heating systems, or indeed of anything in the real world!Sorry, but I think you're likely to be disappointed. However, be glad you got in before the change to heat pumps, which will surely involve a greater financial commitment.2

Thanks for your reply.
Yes I think you might be right there.
I thought I'd post on the off chance.
Hopefully this boiler will last me untill my mortgage is paid in full 🤞🏻🤞🏻 then I'd be in a better standing when it comes to installing heat pumps.
So yes, grateful we have our new boiler and can be warm this winter.2 -

To be fair, this is also being driven by activists and campaigners putting pressure on the politicians to act. (e.g. by blocking roads regardless of whether that holds up ambulances and other urgent needs)
But 'ditto' regarding knowledge and 'real world' etc etc.

They obtain very substantial funds from somewhere, enabling them to provide accommodation and 3 meals a day to their members. I don't think this cash comes from rattling tins!Far from putting pressure on politicians, the group's recent escapades are giving Priti Patel all the ammunition she needs (and public backing) to legislate against known 'persistent' protestors by banning them from travelling to demonstrations. How convenient that might be for the government, especially with a winter of discontent in the offing.Off topic, but I had to respond with my own take on this. I won't be adding to the above and I'm out of this thread now!1
