Impact of wholesale gas prices on solar panel receipts

You're right, if there's a huge difference between the buy and sell prices then it may make more sense to keep it for yourself instead of selling it.As an alternative with lower investment than huge batteries, I understand that some solar panel owners just use their immersion heater element to heat their water while the sun's out, there are probably automatic switches that do this for you. Also heat storage is a new but maturing technology. Your spare power heats some magic liquid that changes state, then you can reverse the effect to release it into your heating or how water later.0

Wouldn't surprise me if that happens fairly soon again the way the many central banks have been "printing" money to prop up their economies & the stock market
Im just keeping my fingers crossed we dont get something approaching hyper inflation leading to everybodies savings getting wiped out

You can opt out of (and back into) the export part of the FIT on a year-by-year basis. Given the crazy wholesale prices right now I'm surprised that more suppliers aren't offering higher SEG payments but they could easily become more generous if the high prices remain. It's just a case of shopping around for the best SEG price. However, you're likely to be better off keeping your 'deemed' exports of 50% of your generation and getting a battery fitted. With prices at > 20p per kWh, the ROI on a 10kWh battery is looking quite reasonable.0

Inflation reached 25% in 1975, it was the mortgage rate that reached 15% (caused us a bit of a struggle when it did)[Deleted User] said:

RegardsBank of England base rate was 12% in 1991 (and an increase to 15% was announced but never happened). I took my first mortgage in 1995. I was pleased to get a fix at ~8%.Everyone with current mortgages at less than 2% could be in for a big surprise.N. Hampshire, he/him.
