Just moved to a new house that I have bought, it’s fully electric and has economy 7 so I’ll need an electricity only econ 7 tariff.

Incumbent supplier is Bulb however I have not yet signed up with them yet. So my question is, should I sign up with Bulb and go on their standard variable tariff or try sign up to Octopus Energy (or someone else?) standard tariff?

I would normally compare online but with this ‘crisis’ that we’re in I can’t seem to be able to compare online.

Thanks in advance.

You have to sign up with Bulb as the current supplier. Then you can choose who to go with although probably best at the moment just to stay put.

Octopus Energy appears not to be offering quotes for new supply contracts. I doubt that there is anything sinister in this. The market is in turmoil and it is busy onboarding 580k’s worth of customers from Avro.

Indeed, the first thing you should do when you move into a new property is to take photos of the meter readings (electric, gas, water) and contact those providers with those meter readings, tell them as of today you own the property so they need to close the previous account and set it up in your name.
You need the current provider to set you up with an account before you even think about changing suppliers, if you are able to.
