O/S Daily Thursday 7 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, dry but, temperature has really dropped.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was herbed chicken, pasta in sauce and veg rice. Not sure about tonight but need to get sorted as not planned very well again and I've got cupboards, fridge and freezers full of food and end up buying more ingredients as I haven't prepped properly.
Last day at work this week, pleased as it's just one week after another of stressful days, hoping this is going to ease but we'll have to wait and see.
Yesterday I picked up my new car ok so far, but haven't really driven it any distance so hope to settle in with it over this weekend.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Yesterday we moved less than a mile but as we had a pump out, filled up with water and bought gas it took about three hours. We are moored directly outside the supermarket so we will shop twice a day until the cupboards are full and move on at the weekend.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.9 -
Good morning & thanks for the thread nmlc,
A very early start for me as I was woken by 2 very insistent ginger cats demanding to go outand now I can't get back to sleep.
I did manage to do some gardening yesterday, cut down the runner beans, cut back the lavender and phlox and planted up some bulbs. I did start to take out the massive hebe that's about 4 foot wide but I think that's going to be a big job, I'll continue with that today.
Then I plan to do some baking, it would have been my Father's birthday tomorrow, the first one since we lost him in June so we will all be gathering at my Mother's.
Have a good day x

Morning all
Cold here this morning Im sat having a cuppa with a blanket over my knee, it does tend to warm up during the day though, back to work for me today but I do have tomorrow off as I have a couple of appointments so I dont have to get up quite so early.
I think I will do meatballs for dinner with pasta and sauce nice and quick and easy, I am doing the very basics of housework atm as I am just too tired when I finish work.
Took big pup to the vets yesterday as she has an infection in her ear, turns out to be a nasty yeast infection so she has tablets and drops to put in it.
Have good days all and take care xxxx11 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC for the new thread. All looks fine and calm outside and it feels so much milder. They say we will get 20 deg today and tomorrow.. That will do nicely!
We had a lovely day out yesterday. Chose Ilkley (again!) and it felt so nice wandering about in the sunshine. More stocking fillers for the C word were picked up. I now have quite a stash but I really need some inspiration for the main presents. We enjoyed a lovely lunch (and, yes TAFF the essential wine!) with much talking and catching up on news..
Off shopping with DD this morning early doors (8.15 pick up!) so must get moving. Then this afternoon it will be the usual Thursday job of a good clean of the kitchen and bathroom.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Thoughts are with dear NELS and MARIE. Take care all and be safe xx

Morning folks. The yellow weather warning has come to nothing, so far. The huge band of torrential rain seems to have moved inland, fingers crossed it stays that way.Yesterday I brought in two bags of logs. I use the big blue bags from the Swedish shop so they hold a lot. I went into town to the small vegetarian deli for a fresh loaf which is delivered to them. They also had freshly baked croissants so I treated myself to one, it was so delicious and better than supermarket ones which I gave up on years ago. Whilst in town I also bought a new wee dustpan and brush set. That's as exciting as it got!
In the evening the sparky came but only to check out what needs doing, I was disappointed but understood why he needed to do that. There's a concept here of 'Argyll time' which bears no relation to real time. 😂 On a better note the courier driver collected my lost parcel from the wrong place and delivered it to me. The trouble is that Royal Mail has imposed an address which is really made up so confuses local people.Today I have another delivery coming, this time of proper Ayrshire bacon. Most of it will be going in the freezer for future breakfasts. I'll probably break up the packets and repackage the bacon into smaller ones.I hope that everyone enjoys their day - Happy Thursday to all.12 -
Morning all, it does feel a lot warmer today. We only had a short walk this morning as pooch decided she didnt want to go up the road to the park but stood still facing the road until we crossed and headed for the trees across. Who am I to argue with a 10st stubborn pooch? My only concrete plan for today is to hop on the bus and go and collect my new specs from town, DH said he'll get his on Saturday, he's too busy with work trying to get the roof finished on an extension before any more rain comes.Just been watching a stand off between a squirrel and a wood pigeon - both trying to get on the bird table- yesterday the squirrel made a spectacular leap from the high fence about 3' away onto the roof of the table and did acrobatics to get under it .Had the postponed lamb chops last night with veg mash and gravy- cooked them in my Instant pot vortex (multi function air fryer basically)it did them well and saved putting the big oven grill on. I used it quite a bit like that when it was hot weather over the summer- apart from the initial outlay it's quite MS on energy when we're trying to get our bills down.Right I need to wash my hair and make myself presentable for going to the opticians so shall love you and leave you- many healing vibes to Marie and Nels x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all from Mehefinland
Nothing much going on atm just same old.
Gers had to smile about "Argyll time". When my brother lived in Fishguard they had "Pembrokeshire time" which sounds very similar. Its Manana . it will happens sometime!
Hugs and spoons as always

I had to laugh at Argyll time, our son lives in Portugal, it’s very manana there!

Morning all. Dull here today and I've just put the light on.
Yesterday we spent time cleaning the cooker; never a favourite job. Took the doors off the top and bottom ovens so we could clean them properly and I also scrubbed the shelves but the main bit wasn't too bad. Also had a go with my new mini hoover and hoovered out my car. I now need to go over the dashboard with a duster or a damp cloth plus wipe some mud off where I've caught it with my boots.
We've had a few problems switching off the tv lately and then last night it wouldn't come on. DH pulled it out to investigate and found that the scart lead was disintegrating! Of course he found another lead in the box of doom in the garage(!), swapped them over and all is now well.
Salmon is defrosting and we'll have it tonight with some roasted veg and sweet potato. I'm still getting a few autumn fruiting raspberries from the garden so they're living up to their name!
Have a good day everyone.

Morning, hugs if you need one. Its fine and there is evidence of some sun, how long for is another matter.
Quiet day today, We had to spilt and go to the coffee morning separately, I was expecting a delivery which did not come intil 2pm!! I now have a Garmin with a camera in, will have to sort out it going in the car. O have fired it up ready to go, I also have a hands free phone mount to fit in......
I had an order yesterday for the snowball ornaments, so something to get on with.
Last nights beef casserole made enough for 2 meals, so one lot in te freezer, going to cook pork steaks tonight as we will not be here for Sunday lunch. Enough of the raspberry jelly for 2 more nights dessert.6
