Passport and Covid Pass in different surnames

Help!
I've booked a last minute trip away to Spain next week. My passport is still in my old name (I changed by deed poll last year when i split with my ex). So i booked all the tickets in that name. Forgetting that my NHS vaccination record is in my new name so they don't match!
I've tried going to my GP to request they change it back but they wont.
Is my only option now to travel as a non vaccinated passenger? If so, what do i need to do with regards to tests.

So stressed out!

Entry to Spain will not be too difficult If you can’t prove that you are fully vaccinated- you will just need proof of a negative PCR test before you travel.

The biggest problem I foresee is that If you cannot prove that you qualify under the fully vaccinated rules, you must follow the rules for people who are not fully vaccinated when you return to UK - which means a 10 days quarantine and booking Day 2 & 8 tests when you get back.

  • Hi Bexxie - I have the same problem. I just booked a 7-night trip to Spain and have just realised my wife travels on her old passport in her maiden name. She still has 5 years left on it before it expires, so she hasn't bothered to update it.

However, she has had double covid jabs : but obviously registered in her married name.

We are due to travel this Sunday, so there's not much time to figure out what to do!

Have you got any further in your enquiries? It's annoying because it's obviously her body that has had the vaccines and just the paperwork that is confusing.

Hi John. I’ve been stressing about it all day.
I keep hearing people say that as long as the forename and date of birth match it’ll be ok. Another friend has said that her sons partner travelled in different names last month with no problems. I also contacted Ryan Air who said I “should” be ok if I take the deed poll certificate as proof with me. But wouldn’t give 100% clarity on it……
I might try calling 119 tomorrow and see what they say.
Otherwise I think I’ll just bite the bullet and travel as a non vaccinated passenger and pay for all the tests.
Good luck, I was so excited about finally going away after a difficult 18 months……now I’m just panicking!

I’m know people with this problem who have taken a copy of the marriage certificate with them and haven’t had a problem.

I’m not married though, wondering if it’ll work the same way with a deed poll certificate.

I would have thought so, but no guarantees.

  • Hi Bexxie - I called 119 yesterday and they couldn't help. She said that I should phone the airline as they control the process.
I plan on calling TUI later today and ask them.

Your safest route is to travel as if unvaccinated and pay for all the necessary tests that means you need.

You will probably get away with bringing your certificate of deed poll for re-entry into the UK but Spanish Immigration may be a bit more of a test.

At the end of the day, each time we've come back into the UK the airline in the overseas country has just asked if we are vaccinated without asking to see any evidence and when at the UK Immigration we've just gone through the e-gates so no one there to ask anything. Clearly you could be unlucky and get someone who gives a damn and actually asks to see the evidence etc.
  • Thanks for all the replies. Thankfully my GP finally changed my name to match my passport yesterday. I keep logging onto the NHS app though and although my records have been changed the Covid pass is still showing in the wrong name. Wondering if I need to do something else for that to update.
