Money Moral Dilemma: Should I return the money I found in a chair I bought?

"As for the £12.70 it's yours""Your money, your choice""the chair and everything in it are theirs."
WRONG.
The OP bought a chair for £20.
Currency is NOT an intrinsic part of any chair. Therefore it cannot possibly be deemed to be included in the terms of sale. There was no agreement to purchase anything other than a chair.
The money does NOT belong to the new purchaser of the chair. Of course this basic truth will never even enter the mind of unprincipled persons who will always choose to keep it anyway.
But the money is NOT theirs and keeping that which does not belong to you IS most definitely dishonest.1 -
No moral dilemma here that I can see. The onus was on the seller to make sure, before selling the chair, that there was nothing inside it that he/she might want to keep - such as cash. Since this appears not to have been done, anything inside the chair can rightly be seen as forming part of the sale. Therefore, keep the money - the Euro note could come in handy if you go abroad in the future, and the small change will be useful in car parks with no parking apps or card machines!2

For me it would depend on what I saw when I'd picked it up from the seller. Well-heeled, just decluttering? Give it to a charity.
Hard-up and struggling? Give it back.5 -
You should keep the money as it is as others have said it is a small amount. a larger amount maybe a different matter. Give it to charity if it help. Stop beating yourself up. no stress.2

It's the sellers job to check the chair before putting up for sale. The money is yours do as you please.2

The chair was obviously for sale on a ‘sold as seen’ basis on the local buying and selling website. if the seller hadn’t bothered to check down the back of it for anything that might have got lodged there, well that’s their lookout/loss.
Keep the money, and be chuffed with the fact that you effectively got the chair for slightly more than £3 (based on today’s exchange rate of €5 = £4.25)

The seller clearly had no idea it was there and might have bought the chair second hand themselves. So, how about just giving it all to the charity of your choice and make someone else's life a tiny bit better - and make yourself feel pretty good too?

sold as seen (or unseen in this case!).
Go to the casino and but it on red. If you win, keep the winnings and return the money (or place it on red again).
If you loose - no one need ever know.....0 -
In all conscience I would contact the seller and offer them the money.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Wow, I'm obviously a lot more dishonest than I thought I was, it would never occur to me to take the money back to the seller!
What do you people do if you buy a 2nd hand car and find a £1 coin under the seat, take it back?!
Absolutely bizarre.2
