Moving house in a gas crisis...?
Hi! We are due to complete on a new house this month which is due for a full renovation over the winter (we won't be living there). I will be trying to keep the heating off as much as possible without letting the house get too cold, though I haven't quite figured out the best way of doing that yet.
My main question is about supplier - we are currently living with parents after selling our own home in the summer, so do not have a current supplier. The new home is currently serviced by British Gas and I believe we will be put on to a deemed contract? Is this the same as a variable rate, and therefore subject to the price cap? The only other offer they have is a 2-year fix which I do not want to do, so I would really appreciate advice on how to approach it given the price of gas and lack of options to switch. Thanks!
