Credit card lost and withdrawn, what now?

Hi,

I recently lost my credit card (MBNA Virgin), by leaving it in the little tray that they scan your belongings in as you pass through customs at the airport. Fortunately, a good soul handed it in and nothing was spent on it. I applied to Virgin to get a replacement sent out, and they agreed, and all was fine. Until that is, they called me up yesterday saying they could not reissue me with the card after reviewing my latest credit rating (which I thought was spic n span but obviously not!)
Reviewing my account online, They have zero'd my balance, but im now fearing they are going to be sending me a bill asking me for the full amount with a short deadline to pay.
Can anyone advise if this is likely to be the case?

Do you mean they have zeroed your available limit not balance?
If you have never missed a payment I cannot see how they can force you to pay anything other than the minimum each month until you have repaid. Obviously I would suggest paying as much as you can.

I would also have a look at your credit files in case there is something bad on there which you may be unaware.

The account you'll be looking at online will be the card for the account that has now been closed as a result of it going missing, when they do this the balance and credit limit is set to £0 and both moved to a new account.
