Whenever I make a direct payment to another person with a different bank, it's instant. I have auto payment set up with Santander for my Current Account to pay off my Santander credit card in full every month. Can anybody explain why it's taken out three working days before it is due?

It allows them time to process all the payments and recover if things go wrong. If you want to push the payment to the wire, then you'll need to make manual payments.0
