Default query

Hi all,

I am new here. I have never had a default issued before and not sure of the best place to look for guidance.

Can a default be issued 24 days from the date of a missed car insurance payment? The guidance suggests 3-6 months but I'm wondering if that is purely guidance rather than fixed. I

I accept my error in missing the payment. I am just wondering if this is fixable. Thank you.

Is it an actual default on your files, or have you just received a default notice?  It would be very unlikely for an actual default to be recorded within 24 days.

Is the policy still in place or has it been cancelled?

That is a far more important question than worrying about any potential default.
If at all possible try to ensure the policy is not cancelled by the insurance company.

  • Hello,

Yes this was also cancelled and I've had to find an alternative insurer. I took public transport to/from family so I wasn't driving uninsured.

All happened within 24 days. I'm shocked but accepting of error. I just wondered if I can challenge the default if nothing else.

Are you sure its not a "default sum" you owe ?

Car insurance payments are not (usually) recorded on your credit file.

I hope you've declared the cancelled policy to your new insurer.
